Darrin Sauerman - PROGRESSIVE | TRANCE

Darrin’s love for Dance music started in 1999 when he went to 330 for the first time. It was 2 years later after meeting Andrew Eastes and later being introduced to Sam Boylan that Darrin was sure there was nothing he wanted more then to be a DJ. Although Darrin spent many nights at 330, they were mostly spent in the DJ Box with Sam, watching him play, it was here that Darrin learnt to appreciate the art of mixing on vinyl and he started to build a record collection of his own.

Without decks but with a growing collection of records Darrin began to teach himself the basics of mixing on a computer program called PC DJ, it was only in 2003 that Darrin got the opportunity to mix his ever growing record collection on some miss matched belt drive decks that belonged to a friend This began an era of the house parties where Darrin and Andrew were continually requested by friends to play back to back with each other and out of this a reputation started to grow. It was in 2007 that Darrin was asked to play at an event for the first time, this event was soon followed by a number of other invitations and then in 2008 Darrin was offered a residency at Traxx.

Darrin enjoys playing anything with attitude, his respect of DJ’s/producers like Tony de Vit, Steve Thomas, BK, Nick Sentience, Edison Factor, Phil Reynolds and Sam Boylan have had an influence in Darrin enjoying mixing hard house/trance but despite an obvious bias towards this genre Darrin’s natural talent allows him to mix any style of music with so much precision and accuracy one cannot only describe Darrin as a hard house/trance DJ. Darrin talks of some highlights to date like playing at the opening night of Traxx B2B with Andrew and recently playing after Phil Reynolds in July 2008. However Darrin remains modest and will always remind everyone that without Sam, he would never have got an opportunity to be where he is.

He has come along way from mixing on PC DJ and is definitely a DJ to make an effort to go and see. Whether its playing first or last in the evening Darrin’s choice of music, interaction with the crowd from behind the decks and raw talent in mixing always fills the dance floor and leaves the crowd asking for one more.
